Both are great options, it really just comes down to personal preference. A pre-lit tree can work out to be much more cost effective compared to buying a tree and lights separately. But maybe you enjoy taking the time to string your lights yourself or get the family involved. Un-lit trees give you a little more choice, but a pre-lit tree is guaranteed to be perfectly lit every year.

As a general rule the amount of lights on a pre-lit artificial Christmas tree is 100 per foot, so a 7ft tree will have 700 lights.

If you’re unsure of whether you need a slim Christmas tree or a pencil Christmas tree, slim trees are typically around 18ins (45cm) narrower at the base than the full-size trees. Pencil trees are then usually half the width of the slim trees. Therefore, choosing which type will depend on how much floor space you have and the look you want to create. Pencil trees may be more discreet due to the smaller circumference but can look just as stunning as a full size tree; simply dress with beautiful decorations to make it look truly opulent.
