Barbecues (BBQs) buyers guide

Having a quality BBQ in your garden will allow you to spend more quality time in your garden, and is essential for entertaining friends and family on those warm summer evenings. You can also use a range of our BBQs in the winter months and get a lot more use out of it. Why not use your barbecue to cook your Christmas dinner? With a range of our larger BBQs coming with several gas burners and even a rotisserie, cooking a turkey on the BBQ is easier than you think.  When deciding on which BBQ to choose, this depends on whether you are a newbie or an experienced griller. If you are new to barbecuing and are not sure how much use you will get out of your BBQ, start with a small grill to suit your immediate needs. Once you get the hang of barbecuing, you can upgrade to a much larger grill to show off your skills to friends and family. When deciding on your BBQ, no matter what size you choose, it is important to look out for the quality of the BBQ, as a better grade BBQ will outlast a budget grill. When buying a BBQ, the choice of fuel can be overwhelming, there are wood pellets, charcoal briquettes, gas or electric. Our gas options are the easiest and cleanest fuel, we also offer a large range of charcoal grills, and if you love the authentic BBQ experience, then the charcoal grills are for you. Another popular option are our portable grills which you can take to the beach or for a picnic - these tend to be charcoal but we also offer gas powered models too. Our biggest seller are our Traeger wood pellet grills as they combine the authentic BBQ smoke and easy technology features. FAQ

Ian Hodgett. Ian is a passionate barbecuer and owns several grills from the various companies. He stars in the videos on the Hayes Youtube channel
alongside top BBQ chef Richard Holden. If you need answers to your BBQ questions or just some tips for easy delicious recipes then The Barbecue Shop in store is the place to head to. He also organises the many hands-on BBQ courses held here in store.

Can I leave my BBQ out all year?

Yes, you can leave your BBQ outside all year round, all of our barbecues and pellet grills are weatherproof, however we do recommend covering them or placing them under a cover as they will last much longer when they are covered. We offer a range of BBQ covers to make sure your BBQ will last for longer.

How should I look after my BBQ?

Maintenance of our BBQs is fairly standard across all of our ranges. They will all need the grates scrubbing with a wire brush after every cook. We also recommend carrying out a thorough clean once a year with all parts removed and cleaned with a dedicated BBQ cleaner or replaced if worn. At Hayes, we offer a Webber certified service on all of their products where we will pick up your BBQ, give it a service and replace any worn parts if necessary before returning it back to you in pristine condition.

Which BBQ should I buy?

When deciding on which BBQ you should buy, think of the quality, how easy it is to use and the design that will look good in your garden. Our most popular BBQs and grills are Weber and Traeger, these are the best quality on the market. Our range of Traeger wood pellet grills are extremely popular due to their ease of use, reliability, versatility and ability to produce delicious results every time. Our range of Weber barbeques are popular as they look great and they cook to perfection, they are the centerpiece of any good garden party.

What size BBQ do I need?
The size of your barbecue depends on the amount of people that you will be cooking for. If you are regularly using your BBQ to entertain, then one of the Traeger wood pellet grills or a gas Weber Genesis with 6 burners will enable you to cook for a large party or just immediate family. If you just want the BBQ for yourself rather than entertaining then one of our smaller Weber gas or charcoal BBQs would be big enough.
