Cook delicious, sweet, aromatic parsnips outdoors on the BBQ at Christmas
The BBQ does not need to be consigned to the back of the garage for the winter it is invaluable for relieving the pressure on the kitchen cooker, especially if you are entertaining a large party for Christmas dinner. If you have a BBQ with a lid and thermometer it is ideal for cooking the turkey, especially if you have a grill with incorporated temperature probes which alert your phone when it is close to the correct cooked temperature. Vegetables cooked on the grill have an extra level of taste and are so easy to grill.
Ingredients:
- parsnips
- honey
- fresh thyme; finely chopped
Equipment:
- roasting tray
Peel and cut the parsnips into quarters.
Coat the parsnips with the honey and sprinkle on the thyme.
Cook for about 20 minutes on the centre shelf at 200C (392F); don’t place them too near the bottom otherwise the honey will burn.
Take them off when the tip of a sharp knife penetrates them easily.
